At Caterpillar Kids, we believe childhood is bursting with possibility. From the moment they arrive, young children are naturally curious, imaginative, and eager to explore the world around them. Our role is to nurture that spark — to give them space to wonder, play, connect, create, and thrive.

We provide a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired. Guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), our experienced and caring team carefully plan purposeful activities that support each child’s development, helping them flourish in their own unique way.

Whether you’re looking for term-time preschool or full-day nursery care, we have two welcoming settings to suit your needs — each built on love, community, and a passion for early years education:

Kennet Valley Preschool

A friendly, community-inspired preschool in the heart of Fords Farm, open during term time for children aged 2 to 5 years.

Beenham Day Nursery

A nurturing, family-led nursery just off the A4 near the beautiful village of Beenham, offering year-round care for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Children join us from all over West Berkshire and beyond. We celebrate all cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs, and take pride in creating a setting where everyone feels they belong. At Caterpillar Kids, we care for your little ones as if they were our own — and we can’t wait to welcome you into our family.

One of Our Own!

Every day our staff will look after your children with all the care and respect as if they were our own children. Our focus is to provide a warm, safe and happy environment for them to learn through play, become confident and independent ready for the transition to primary school.

We provide feedback to our families via termly parents evenings, our parents WhatsApp group, Famly (our online development platform) and of course, face to face at pick up/drop off. Our staff are always on hand to help with questions or concerns you have. We offer flexible contact options - phone calls, text messages and private face to face meetings - to ensure you feel confident your children are receiving the best possible care.

The importance of play

We understand how important play is for children, our settings have dedicated outside areas that reflect the indoors to enable children to grow in all areas of their development without even realising it!

Our expert teams create spaces for pretending, expressing and imagining themselves. All play areas are designed with the current cohort of children in mind, ensuring any gaps in development are identified and closed in a way that is sensitive to each child.

Each session is carefully crafted to meet the development needs of each and every child. Our amazing staff are highly trained, caring and supportive. Your child is your world and when you leave them in our care they become our world too.
